Business Achievement Awards
I am thrilled at the overwhelming success of our Annual Business Achievement Awards Dinner and Silent Auction on April 20 at Horseshoe Resort. The larger venue and sit down meal service was a welcome change and made it possible to entertain almost 200 guests at this annual fundraising event. A record number of silent auction items were donated; bidding was competitive with many items going for more than their recorded worth. Many positive comments were heard throughout the evening regarding the service, the meal, the room, and the organization and planning of the evening. Everyone involved seemed to have a great time and we are proud to have hosted such a wonderful event for our members, friends, and business community. Many thanks to our planning committee, our silent auction donors, ticket buyers, staff at Horseshoe Resort and our Executive Director, Carol Benedetti. We couldn't have done it without all of you! Congratulations to all of our nominees and winners of our Awards. You are wonderful examples of what hard work and pride in your business can achieve and we as your Chamber of Commerce are proud of you!

New President’s Message
On behalf of the Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors I want to thank all outgoing directors for their work on behalf of the Chamber. I especially would like to thank Past President Rick Dory for his tireless work on behalf of the Chamber. Rick guided the OMCC through an important period of growth and change over the past four years and was highly instrumental in raising the profile of the Chamber throughout the Township and the region.
I look forward to continuing Rick’s work as the Chamber continues to grow and support businesses throughout the Township of Oro-Medonte. I am excited to work with our Board of Directors and thank the new directors for coming forward and volunteering their time for the Chamber. Thank you too to the Township of Oro-Medonte for partnering so well with the Chamber and recognizing the important part that the OMCC plays in the businesses of Oro-Medonte. And of course thank you to our Executive Director, Carol Benedetti, who holds all the strings of this vibrant organization in her capable hands!
Don’t forget to order your tickets for our wonderful annual Business Achievement Awards Night and Dinner on Monday April 20. Tickets are a reasonable $45 per person for members and can be ordered through Carol at the OMCC office. Nominations are being accepted for deserving businesses in a number of categories and don’t hesitate to volunteer if you have a Silent Auction item to donate.
Here’s to a successful and prosperous 2009!

This map features information on local businesses, landmarks, community halls, churches and other places of interest in the Township. The reverse of the map breaks the Township down into smaller communities such as Warminster, Shanty Bay and Sugar Bush, while the front shows the Township as a whole, complete with all the Hwy 11 overpasses.
The maps are free and available at the Township/Chamber offices and at many other locations thoughout Lake Country. If you would like a quantity of maps to use or distribute at your business, please call Carol at the Chamber office, 487-7337.
